Normally, I try and refrain from NSFW language on my blog…but I am making an exception for Republican Virginia Foxx.
Foxx recently said:
“I went through school, I worked my way through, it took me seven years, I never borrowed a dime of money…. I have very little tolerance for people who tell me that they graduate with $200,000 of debt or even $80,000 of debt because there’s no reason for that. We live in an opportunity society and people are forgetting that.”
Did you know she is the Chair of the House Panel on Higher Education? Did you know she went to college forty years ago? Or that she paid $87.50 per semester? Really! The University of North Carolina charged that per semester. It is terrific that the Chair of the House Panel on Higher Education is so in touch with the fact the costs have increased slightly since she was in college, back during the Washington Presidency. We currently are not living in an opportunity society, at least not for people trying to make ends meet. It would be wonderful it was. But I can tell you as someone struggling to pay bills by working two jobs and trying to start a business? When you are towards the bottom? You have to fight tooth and nail to get by and rip hope from Opportunities hands. I am not sitting there waiting for stuff to fall in my lap. But I sure appreciate when the President suggests ideas that might allow me to breath a little when paying my bills. The Republicans aren’t doing that. They don’t care. They think we don’t work hard enough. Or give enough. They have no tolerance for those still struggling.
So, I salute Congresswoman Virginia Foxx with a hearty “Screw You, you dinosaur.”
Sorry about that crass language folks.
