If a Democrat had said this during the Bush years, they would be in Guantanamo by now.
In other weirdness, some conservatives reported blogger Joe Jervis to the FBI for terrorist threats. It’s all pretty laughable, as the comments in question were not made by Joe, and one comment cited expressed concern that someone would become angry enough to commit a violent act against anti-gay folks. The follow-up was a clear tongue in cheek comment. It should be noted, nothing was said like that one conservative who called himself a proud “right wing terrorist”-a comment that was not only not a joke, but cheered on by a crowded room this past summer.
But as conservatives reported on this it quickly became claims of Jervis encouraging anti-Christian terrorism. Of course, if you read Joe.My.God at all you know that this is absurd. Does Joe play a tough game with Christians? Yeah. Weekly he makes note of clergy who have been arrested (for a multitude of crimes). He’s been rough on Carrie Prejean, but man…have you listened to that girl? She begs for a bit of mockery. But to think he encourages terrorism? Against anyone? That’s foolishness. Do his commentators sometime get a bit overzealous? Yeah. But Joe has asked that people try and show restraint-even going as far as taking some comments down for review, and asks that people feel free to bring his attention to any questionable comments. Considering he sees hundreds of responses in a day? This is pretty fair.
It says something about the desperation of folks like Peter LaBarbera that they are trying to sick the FBI on Joe. It says he is fairly pathetic and and whiny for starters.
