Seriously. This makes my morning. David Fincher (one of my favorite modern directors) optioning the Goon (one of my favorite modern comics)? I don’t know if Fincher will also direct, he may be strictly acting as a producer…but his name being attached gives me hope. Apparently, it will be computer animated, which just might work for creating the right atmosphere for the film. Found via the Beat.

I’ve heard so much good about The Goon but I still haven’t gotten around to checking it out. Maybe a movie will be the impetus I need (worked for Hellboy).
If it’s to be CGI, I hope they go the way The Incredibles went and make the characters look slightly cariacture-ish. If there’s anything we learned from The Polar Express, it’s that hyper-realistic CGI humans just look creepy.
They can’t go hyper real for the Goon, all the characters are very much stylized…to be done right, they can’t detour far from the look of the book. Hopefully it will be more “Pixar” than “Beowulf”.
