What impressed me most about this video?

How damn long it took for that comic to catch fire. For a moment, I thought that was the whole point of the video.

Now, I have griped openly about this whole One More Day thing. And yet, i don’t really consider it worth the energy of buying a copy so I can destroy it later. It’s one thing to expend a few minutes to rant…but seriously…it’s comic books, I can’t spend that much time being bothered by it. It’s done. There are far bigger issues, even within the comic world, to be dealt seriously with.

I am not saying people are wrong to be annoyed with Joe Quesada, especially as he had a direct hand in this (as as opposed to the Mary Jane statue fiasco, which was a different branch of Marvel than the comic branch. To my knowledge, the EIC of Marvel comics is not the person green lighting those). But the general treatment of minority characters and women in comics-as disposable characters is a greater problem (yet more likely to be scoffed at by some of the very people throwing fits about what One More Day did to Peter Parker). I’m annoyed, but it is done, and now on this one, we need to go forward to see what happens (and it is certainly possible that Marvel will undo this change in a year or two).

So, complain away…but we should take a step back and maybe not do thinks like…well…wiping our asses with the comics we despise may sound funny when we say it…not so pretty to see it on the internet.
