I mean, this guy seems like the solution to my dating life!!!! And VH1 has given him a show! I mean, this guy is all about helping the average, overweight, virginal loser (at least, judging from the ads on VH1) guys get women. Wait, scratch that, HOT, unattainable women. Because we all know that when it comes to dating? That’s all that counts, right? Of course, he is not really helping them get dates. Just helping them “nail hot chicks”.
Lets face it, this guy is not helping these”Lovable Losers” (per the show’s description) learn how to have meaningful interaction with women. It is not about getting them comfortable with women as both friends and possibly lovers. It’s about treating them as objects to be won. Foreign lands to be conquered. It’s really just perpetuating the problem. Instead of seeing women as some “other”…as alien-they are moving women into the category of Living Doll. The Pick Up artist and VH1 are replacing one problem with another for these guys.
Really, it’s to bad. I think it would be much more interesting to have a show where these guys learned to view women as…well, fellow human beings and worked on bettering themselves as people in social interaction in general. Imagine a series where they were able to see their strengths and build on those and their weaknesses and learn ways to correct those.
Now imagine it hosted by a lanky guy in a stupid feathered top hat.
Your car breaking down before work.
On the other hand, this was rather inspiring.
