This could all be bunk. But to be honest? I would be more than surprised if the facts as we know them now in regards to global warming/climate change were the end all. I would not be surprised at all if scientists are revising their theories over the next few years. Heck, we believed in glabal cooling before we revised that theory to global warming. I think to just assume we have it all figured out now is absurdly naive, as science is in constant motion.

Uh-huh. I suppose those ice shelves off Antarctica are receding ’cause they just don’t like the scenery, then.
I do agree that the Green Party’s focus on environmental issues like this can be a tad extreme, though. It’s that exclusive focus that stops me from switching over from Democrat-land. Still, while I agree that it’s arrogant to assume we have all the answers right now, it’s also my opinion that to flat-out deny that Earth’s climate is experiencing change at this time is rather naive and just a tad disingenuous on their part.

Well, like I said, I don’t doubt there is warming…the reasons why may change though. The fact that the earth goes through heating and cooling cycles (this is not the first time the ice shelves have receded).
My concern is that we have a habit of assuming that “current” scientific thought is the final word, when science is constantly evolving in discoveries. I certainly don’t think that this means we say “screw it”. It’s still better if we work to find alternative fuels. And honestly, it is rather funny that some of the biggest proponents of current global warming thought have the worst “carbon footprints” (when Al Gore’s home is less environmentally friendly than Bush’s ranch? That’s embarrassing-http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp)…not to mention this idea that we can “buy green credits” to offset our “carbon footprints” is laughable at best. We need to get alternatives to the fossil fuels going. And whaat has pissed me off over the years is I knew this when I was in high school…yet most of our leaders (regardless of party or being left or right on the political spectrum) have, at best, paid lip service to finding more eco friendly solutions to things like energy, transportation and so on.
